Snow Make up Days: February 13, April 2, April 6, June 9, & June 10, 2015

Dear Parents and Staff,

We have now used seven snow days this year. The school calendar included two (2) built-in snow days and the next five designated make-up days were listed as Friday, February 13, Thursday, April 2, Monday, April 6, Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10. Therefore, school will now be in session on those five days for all K-12 students and staff.

If another make-up day is needed, we will use Thursday, June 11.

Below is the message sent via our automated call system on the evening of Wednesday, February 25th:

Tomorrow, Thursday, February 26th is our PTO meeting. Please join us at 7 PM in the WES cafeteria! We have a lot of exciting events coming up and we would love to have your help!

This Friday, February 27th is the deadline for ordering yearbooks and Autism Tshirts. If you are in need of an order form for either item, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

This Sunday, March 1st, our PTO is hosting a book fair at Barnes & Noble at the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley. Please join us between 1 and 4 pm for this great event. Enjoy guest readers, visit with Hoot and meet our guest author, Julia Dweck.

Next week, the week of March 2nd is Read Across America Week. Each day we will honor a different Dr. Seuss book. Monday is hat day. Tuesday is crazy socks day. Wednesday is slipper day. And Thursday is wear green day. All students and staff members are welcome to participate.

Next Friday, March 6th there is no school for students. Teachers have an in service day for professional development.

The March PTO Dining Out event will be held on Wednesday, March 4th at the Buckeye Tavern. Details will be sent home on Monday, March 2nd.

Finally, Mrs. Clymer, our ESL teacher, will be presenting “Academic Language” – what parents can do to support the growth of academic vocabulary at home. This parent training will be held on Wednesday, March 11th from 6 to 7 pm in the WES library. Parents will learn the reasons for spending more time with academic language at home; will be given specific examples of language to use when they speak to their child at home; and finally learn some activities they can do with spelling/vocabulary that comes home from school.
