Superintendent’s Message

September 23, 2014

Dear Parents and Community,

I would like to make you aware of Enterovirus (EV-D68) and enlist your assistance in limiting its spread. From mid-August to September 18, 2014, a total of 153 people from 18 states were confirmed to have respiratory illness caused by EV-D68. Recently, several cases have been confirmed in Pennsylvania. Asbestos Abatement Project

Dear Parents and Staff,

In approximately 4 weeks, Wescosville School will undergo an asbestos abatement project, which is estimated to take 4-5 days to complete, dependent upon weather. This will take place away from the building, beyond the tree line where construction debris was buried last year. The debris was not from the school district and consists of general construction material, including some asbestos siding. All material will be removed and disposed of properly. We have been assured by a certified asbestos management firm that the non-friable material poses no threat to students or staff, either in the ground, or while being excavated. As with all other school asbestos removal projects, this one will be managed and monitored by certified asbestos removal companies and registered with the Department of Environmental Protection. Please feel free to call my office with any questions.

Sincerely,

Mike Schilder
Superintendent

Important Reminder Regarding the Elementary Schedule

Please note the following important reminder regarding the elementary schedule:

  • Students will follow a 5-day cycle, particularly for specialist classes (Art, Music, Library, Phys. Ed.)
  • It is important to know which day of the cycle we are on versus which day of the week it is
  • Instead of your student having a specialist class on a specific day of the week, such as Wednesday, your child may have that specialist on Day 3
  • The day of the cycle will be included in the morning announcements each day and is posted on each school website; teachers will also continue to remind students of the schedule.

Example:

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Aug. 25-DAY 1 Aug. 26-DAY 2 Aug. 27-DAY 3 Aug. 28-DAY 4 Aug. 29-No School
Sept. 1-No School Sept. 2-DAY 5 Sept. 3-DAY 1 Sept. 4-DAY 2 Sept. 5-DAY 3
